FARMING EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY FUND 2025

May 2025

The UK government has announced the 2025 Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF), offering grants to support farmers, growers, foresters, and contractors in England. This initiative aims to enhance productivity, improve environmental outcomes, and promote animal welfare through the adoption of modern equipment and technology.

Overview of the 2025 FETF

The FETF provides financial assistance for purchasing equipment and technology across three key themes:

  • Productivity: Tools and machinery that boost farm efficiency and profitability.

  • Slurry Management: Equipment to improve the collection, storage, and application of slurry, enhancing soil health and reducing environmental impact.

  • Animal Health and Welfare: Items that support the well being of livestock, leading to better productivity and food quality.

Applicants can receive grants ranging from £1,000 to £25,000 per theme, with the government covering a percentage of the item's cost, varying by item. The total funding available is £46.7 million, allocated as follows:

  • £30 million for productivity and slurry management

  • £16.7 million for animal health and welfare

Eligibility and Application Process

The application window opens on the 29th of May 2025 and closes at midday on the 10th of July 2025. The process is competitive, with applications assessed based on criteria specific to each theme. It's important to note that funding is not guaranteed, and applicants may receive partial or no funding depending on the assessment outcomes.

Notable Equipment Highlights

  • Productivity: Robotic drills, inter-row hoes, rainwater harvesting systems, and robotic silage pushers.

  • Slurry Management: Robotic slurry collectors, flow rate monitors, and low-emission spreaders like dribble bars.

  • Animal Health and Welfare: Piglet creeps, mobile handling systems for cattle and sheep, and poultry cooling systems.

Items have been selected in collaboration with industry experts to address current challenges and promote sustainable farming practices.
