The Pinfold was the family seat of a famous 1920's tycoon Alfred Lowenstein who mysteriously disappeared over the Chanel from his private aeroplane on his way to conclude the biggest deal of his life in Argentina. The subject of the book "The Man who fell from the Sky" Alfred Lowenstein was a multi-millionaire and has been described by many as a latter-day Robert Maxwell.
